PTI Stamp-a-Faire 2014 Renaissance #2

Ok, here is card #2 of this era.  This one uses hot wax to create replica seals.  What you do is get some of that sealing wax, ink up your chosen stamp in Versamark (to stop it sticking) and then stamp straight into the hot wax.  You can either do it straight on your project, or as I did on this cads, I did it on baking paper first to create an embellishment and then just popped it onto my project.

The patterned paper was supplied in the PTI SAF kit and was just so ornate and detailed in itself, it just doesn't require anything more.

Another technique for the vault.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Blackberry Bliss (SU), Patterned paper from PTI SAF kit
Stamp: from PTI SAF kit
Ink: Versamark
Other: red velvet material, die from PTI SAF kit

PTI Stamp-a-Faire 2014: Renaissance

Ok.  This one had my head SPINNING.  The technique uses velvet, stamps and water.  And an iron.  You know...the sort that you use to iron your clothes (well, I'm sure there are people that use theirs for this task.  Personally, I don't.  I am amazed we even have one quite frankly!)

Anyway, the trick to get the stamp image onto the velvet using the iron.  This is were my head was almost spinning off my neck.  Yes!  You IRON THE STAMP.  No joke!

Want to see it done?  Book a time with me and I'll show you!

This card was great to do and there was some beautiful dies included int he set provided.  I think I will have to have a few more goes at this technique though.  It's kinda addictive.  And it gives my iron a work out and makes it feel loved.  Like my vacuum cleaner.

OK, this is a HARD card to photograph.  I have played with the exposure, colour and lowlights in order to show you the detail you get when stamping on velvet.  In real life it looks heaps better.
Materials used:
Cardstock: Blackberry Bliss and Gold Foil cardstocks (SU)
Stamp: Renaissance stamp set provided in SAF kit
Ink: Encore Gold (SU)
Other: Red velvet (try to buy some that has a decent pile), dies form SAF kit, iron, water spritzer

PTI Stamp-a-Faire 2014: Ancient Rome

Now this is a technique that I have been meaning to do for a while.  It uses texture paste and a stencil to make a raised effect.  Fabulous.  Looks heaps better in real life!  Think I might incorporate this one into my techniques classes somehow......

detail of texture paste
Texture paste comes in white or translucent.  And it sort of looks and feels a bit like toothpaste.  Weird stuff.  But you can tint it any colour with reinkers, you can stamp on it (another card I have in the works) and no doubt do a miriad of things with it.  Thinking cap is on.

Materials used:
Cardstock: PTI White, patterned paper supplied in PTI SAF kit, SU's Sahara Sand
Stamp: Ancient Rome stamp in SAF kit
Ink: PTI Ripe Avocado and Simply Chartreuse & Smoky Slate
Other: Mat Stack 3 Layerz (PTI), Burlap trim (SU), Wendy Vecchi Texture Paste, Lucky Limeade reinker (SU)

PTI Stamp-a-Faire 2014: Timer Challenge

Off and running for 2014.  Have to say that it is not easy as this is being run out of America and they are using the whole of Saturday August 23rd to run the SAF.  This, however, means early hours of the following Sunday morning for us that live on the other side of the world.  Needless to say, I will not be doing all the challenges as they are posted.  I will be playing along in catch up mode for most.

But I am up at the moment (1.30am) and figure that I may as well get at least one card knocked off.  And here it is.

The challenge was to use a colour combo and sketch provided, and come up with a card in 20 minutes. I was good....I made mine in under 15minutes, which included getting my supplies together and constructing the card.  It took me longer to log onto the blogsite to load up the card!!

Materials Used:
Cardstock: PTI white notecard, Stampin; Up! coloured cardstocks and glimmer paper
Stamp: Congrats all Ways (PTI)
Ink: Smoky Shadow (PTI)
Other: Star punches (SU! - both retired)

I am pathetic

This blog has gone to the dogs.  I have just not done anything of value recently on here and at one point, almost felt like shutting it down.  But we have just launched into the Twittersphere and are also Instagraming...it felt stupid to knock this on the head.  So I will keep it going.  However it would be good to hear some feedback - just so I know I am not talking to myself!

I can't believe it is nearly a year since I posted stuff on here.  In fact, only twice in a year.  Shocking.  And I am not making things better, by once again using this blog as the platform to participate in Papertrey Ink's annual Stampafaire.  So, sit back and enjoy my posts over the next few days.  They will all be about cards and crafting, so if you are not interested...avert your eyes for the next few days.

If you are mildly interested, check things out.

And I PROMISE....I  will pull my finger out and update this blog very soon!

But for the meantime, sit back and enjoy some crafty goodness!
